Retiree Permits
Faculty or staff who are official university retirees and continue to reside in Indiana may request a parking permit. Guidance on how to obtain a permit is below.
Faculty or staff who are official university retirees and continue to reside in Indiana may request an annual “A” parking permit/Garage Access Card that expires Aug. 15 using the options below.
Retirees who renew their “A” permit from one year to the next should continue using their same Garage Access Card.
Permit Renewals (Returning Users)
- Visit the Purdue Parking Portal
- In the upper right-hand corner, select “Login”
- Click on “Guest Login” and enter your email address and password that is associated with the parking portal.
- If you do not remember your password, click “Retrieve Your Information”
- Under “Permits” in the middle of the page, select “Get Permits – Other Permits.” Follow the steps to renew your existing parking permit.
New Permit Requests (First-Time Users)
Retirees can use their PUID to create a Purdue Parking Portal guest account as an alternative to signing in with BoilerKey. New parking permit requests and subsequent renewals are completed in the portal, along with permit management. Human Resources (hr@purdue.edu) can assist if a PUID is unknown.
Garage Access Cards will be mailed to the retiree’s address listed in the parking portal account.
Self-Create Account Using a Personal (Non-Purdue) Email Address
If you use a personal (non-Purdue) email address to create your guest account through the parking portal, you can complete all steps on your own using the instructions provided below.
- Visit the Purdue Parking Portal
- In the upper right-hand corner, click “Signup”
- Complete all guest account fields, including a valid email address and street address
- Once the account is created, click “Permits” on the menu bar, then “Special Permit Requests.” Choose the “Retiree” option. First time requests or renewals may be completed here.
- The following information is required: PUID, name, email address (must match what was provided when creating the guest account) and phone number
- When the request is received, the information provided will be used to match the guest account with the original Purdue employee/retiree account and the two will be merged. Once the accounts are merged, all associated permits and vehicles will be retained so information does not need to be re-entered. Changes can be made if vehicle information has changed.
- If the retiree returns to active employment at Purdue, the account will revert to an employee account that will require the use of BoilerKey.
Assisted Account Creation Using a Purdue Email Address
If you will be setting up your guest account with a Purdue email address instead of a personal email, Parking staff will need to create the account on your behalf since that email address will already be associated with your employee record.
- Email Parking at parking@purdue.edu and provide the following information:
- Name
- PUID (If you do not know your PUID, email hr@purdue.edu for assistance.)
- Current home address
- Parking staff will create your new guest account on your behalf and provide instructions to set your password and log in. You must login to set your new password immediately.
- Once you are logged in to your account on the Parking Portal, click “Permits” on the menu bar, then “Special Permit Requests.” Choose the “Retiree” option to request your new or renewal permit.
Parking Enforcement
Refer to the campus parking map for parking locations by permit type. Retirees should review the Traffic and Parking Regulations and information about License Plate Recognition (LPR) and optional “front plates” for additional parking flexibility.
LPR is the primary means to access the gated Grant Street and Harrison Street parking garages for those with an eligible permit; however, the Garage Access Card should be scanned to enter and exit if the license plate is not automatically read. A Garage Access Card is not a parking permit, nor should it be displayed within a vehicle. Individuals must return Garage Access Cards to Parking Operations upon ineligibility.
Permits may not be shared with other individuals. Use or possession of forged, stolen, altered or transferred permits may result in a citation, immobilization and/or towing of the vehicle, criminal charges and/or disciplinary action through the university. Vehicles may not be stored in any parking lot or garage for longer than 24 hours without permission from Purdue Parking. Any vehicles in violation of this may be towed at the owner’s expense.
