Graduate Certificate in Applied AI and Cybersecurity Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Applied AI and Cybersecurity prepares students to meet the growing demand for professionals skilled in both domains.
This fully online program combines theoretical foundations with hands-on projects to develop practical expertise in AI-driven cybersecurity solutions. Learners will explore AI applications in cybersecurity, study adversarial machine learning and address critical issues of information security and privacy in the age of large language models.
The certificate aligns seamlessly with both the Master of Science (MS) in Computer and Information Technology (MS-CIT) program, and with the new MS in Cybersecurity launching in 2026. Graduates gain interdisciplinary skills in AI and cybersecurity, equipping them to design and defend systems, integrate ethical considerations and advance innovation in digital protection.
Cutting-Edge Interdisciplinary Training
This program blends artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity — two of the most in-demand fields — preparing students to design innovative solutions that protect organizations from evolving digital threats.
Hands-On, Applied Learning
Students engage in project-based coursework, coding assignments and real-world case studies, building a professional portfolio that demonstrates practical expertise in AI-driven security.
Ethics and Responsible AI Focus
Beyond technical skills, the program emphasizes ethical decision-making and responsible deployment of AI systems to ensure security, privacy and trust in advanced technologies.
A graduate certificate is a specialized credential that provides advanced knowledge in a specific field. Available to those with a bachelor’s degree, Purdue’s 100% online graduate certificates take less time than a full master’s degree program. They are valuable for individuals looking to quickly advance their careers or pivot to a new industry. Graduate certificates also can serve as a stepping stone toward a master’s degree since they allow students to earn academic credits that may apply to a future graduate program. Ask your enrollment counselor for details or learn more about graduate certificates here.
