Course Evaluation – IDP Administered Departments
Historical Data
Historical evaluation data from the previous CoursEval system, 2008 to Summer 2020, is available through Instructional Data Processing. Instructors can request evaluation data by emailing idp@purdue.edu.
Submission Process
During weeks 0, 2, and 4 your department will receive a template from IDP which includes all courses as they are set up in Banner. From this template, the department/program head or the department evaluation coordinator will create a request form that will include all courses to be evaluated. All requests for evaluation must be submitted to IDP by the coordinator. If your course was not evaluated, it is possible that an evaluation was not requested by your department.
Please watch the following video for additional, detailed information about submitting courses for evaluation.
Schedule and Responses
There are four standard evaluation periods, during weeks 4 and 5, weeks 7 and 8, weeks 9 and 10, and weeks 14 and 15 in the academic calendar. Evaluations begin at 9:00 a.m. thirteen days prior to the course’s end date and close at 11:59 p.m. on the course’s end date for 16-week evaluations. Evaluations will run 10 days for 5, 8, and 10-week evaluations. Contact your department evaluation coordinator for details.
Instructors receive automated emails notifying them of the response rate for their courses. Real-time response rate updates are also available at the course evaluation website. It includes the number of students who have submitted responses out of the expected total of students enrolled. Names of students who have completed evaluations are not released to instructors.
The typed comments section is not required for students who complete an evaluation. It is possible no students provided feedback.
Evaluation Questions
Instructors will have mandatory and optional questions, up to fifteen total, to choose for anonymous feedback from their students. Please see “End of Course Evaluation Questions” for details.
Midterm Evaluations
Beginning fall 2020, midterm evaluations are available and designed to help instructors access and improve their course delivery. Please see Midterm Guidelines for details.
