PURDUE JAZZ FESTIVAL

Jazz bands from middle schools and high schools across the Midwest will converge on Purdue University on January 24, 2026 for the 36rd annual Purdue Jazz Festival.

Thursday, January 22 – 7:00 PM

Community Jazz Showcase

Performances associated with the festival will kick off Thursday, January 22th with a free Community Jazz Showcase at 7:00 p.m. at the Long Center for the Performing arts in Lafayette, Indiana, featuring the Purdue Jazz Band and High School jazz bands from Tippecanoe County.

Friday, January 23 – 8:00 PM

Yellowjackets

With a 43-year legacy, the Yellowjackets have released 26 albums, earned 16 Grammy® nominations, and built a reputation as one of jazz’s most influential groups. Originally formed in the late 1970s as Robben Ford’s backing band, they soon evolved into their own powerhouse trio.

Saturday, January 24 – All Day

Festival Day

Over 100 high school and middle school jazz ensembles will compete in various divisions at Purdue University. The Purdue Jazz Band will give two performances – at 12:45 PM and 7:00 PM for the Finale and Awards Ceremony. Throughout the day, our Guest Artists and Clinicians will give lectures and demonstrations that are open to the Festival participants.
