PURDUE JAZZ FESTIVAL
Jazz bands from middle schools and high schools across the Midwest will converge on Purdue University on January 23, 2027 for the 37th annual Purdue Jazz Festival, sponsored by Music for All.
Registration will open September 1, 2026.
2027 Director Information Packet will become available by December 1, 2026.

Community Jazz Showcase
The Purdue Jazz Festival kicks off with a free Community Jazz Showcase at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Lafayette, Indiana. The concert features Artist-In-Residence Laura Simone alongside the Purdue Jazz Band and four high school jazz bands from Tippecanoe County.

Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom
Led by acclaimed drummer and composer Allison Miller, Boom Tic Boom is a jazz ensemble known for its razor-sharp precision and diverse, contemporary sonic palette—and celebrated by critics and musicians alike.
By blending classic drummer-led traditions with modern improvisation, Boom Tic Boom has achieved widespread recognition. Celebrating over a decade of music together, the group has earned numerous “Top 10 Jazz Albums” accolades and performed at premier international festivals and on renowned programs like NPR’s Fresh Air and Tiny Desk. Their performance will serve as an energizing kick-off to the 37th Annual Purdue Jazz Festival, which brings thousands of middle- and high- school musicians to Purdue’s campus. .

Saturday, January 23 – All Day
Festival Day
Over 100 high school and middle school jazz ensembles compete in various divisions throughout Stewart Center and the Purdue Memorial Union. The Purdue Jazz Band performs twice during the festival:
12:45 PM – Loeb Playhouse – Featuring Artist-In-Residence Laura Simone
7:00 PM – Elliott Hall of Music – Featuring Guest Artists Annie Booth and Alphonse Horne.
Throughout the day, our Guest Artists and Clinicians will host lectures and demonstrations that are open to all festival participants.
