Jazz band
With seven big bands including the award-winning Purdue Jazz Band, jazz vocalists, and a thriving combo scene, the Purdue Jazz program prides itself on musical excellence, offering an incredible variety of performance and masterclass opportunities for 250+ student musicians during the fall and spring semester. Each band rehearses 2-3 days a week and performs two concerts – the perfect time commitment for any college musician – no matter their major.

Purdue Jazz Band
The premier ensemble, Purdue Jazz Band, competes each year at Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Illinois and headlines the annual Purdue Jazz Festival since 1988. They have traveled the world performing at the prestigious Montreux, Alpine, and North Sea jazz festivals, throughout Eastern Europe, Spain, and Colombia. The Purdue Jazz Combo served as guest clinicians for the Colombo Americana Jazz Camp in Manizales, Colombia (2023). Most recently, the Purdue Jazz Band toured Oahu, Hawaii (2023) and will soon travel to Spain (Spring 2026).
