Purdue Bands & Orchestras offers a wide range of ensembles that makes any musician welcome. Marching Band, Auxiliaries, Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Orchestras are worth 2 class credits.
Athletic Bands & Auxiliaries
The Purdue Athletic Bands program consists of the curricular, “All-American” Marching Band, Purdue Twirlers, Golduster Dance Team, Golden Silks Color Guard, Purdue Winter Guard, and the extra-curricular pep bands, Boiler Brass, Gold & Black Sound, and Boiler Box Band. Rain or shine, win or lose, the Purdue Athletic Bands and Auxiliaries are Purdue Athletics biggest fans.
Concert Bands
The Purdue Concert Bands program consists of 4-7 high quality ensembles, depending on the semester, including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Campus Band, Collegiate Band, Varsity Band, and University Band. With such expansive offerings, we’re able to find an ensemble that suits each students’ playing ability and interest level – making it the perfect fit for everyone.
Jazz Bands
The Purdue Jazz program under the direction of Dr. M.T. “Mo” Trout, consists of 6 jazz bands, including the premier Purdue Jazz Band, American Music Repertory Ensemble (AMRE), Lab Jazz Band I, Lab Jazz Band II, Tower of Power band, and the Guitar & Saxophone Ensemble, as well as numerous jazz combos and vocalist spots. From international travel to sharing the stage with world class performers, the Purdue Jazz program offers endless opportunity.
Orchestras, Chamber Music, and Additional Ensembles
The Purdue Orchestras program consists of the Purdue Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra, which both boast a full complement of strings, winds, and percussion. We also offer a String Orchestra, Chamber Music, a Percussion Ensemble, and Applied Music Studies. Whether a student prefers to challenge themselves in a large ensemble, small group, or private lessons setting, we’re sure to have what suits their needs.
