“Meet the Conductor,” will help us welcome two new conductors to the podium this fall to direct our Fall Concert Bands.  They will join Al G. Wright Chair and Wind Ensemble Conductor, Jay Gephart, in their debut concert featuring music of Fillmore, Galante, Holst, Perrine, and Gillingham. Featuring the Wind Ensemble. Homecoming is always a time to celebrate Purdue's history and traditions.  On Friday, October 14, the Purdue Band and Orchestra Alumni Club will sponsor a cocktail reception for all band and orchestra alumni and their guest(s) beginning at 6:00 pm at The Trails Banquet Facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. The "All-American" Marching Band will perform at Homecoming, vs. Iowa. Kickoff is Noon. This year, the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 Rose Bowl Band will be celebrated. The Purdue Jazz Band will present music from the 1956 ground breaking Stan Kenton album.  After 60 years, Kenton’s first album of Afro-Cuban style music still sounds fresh and exciting.  “Cuban Fire” combines big-band jazz with genuine Latin-American rhythms in an authentic way. Featuring the Purdue Jazz Band and Concert Jazz Band. Free and open to the public.
