Dear Boilermaker, As you navigate your academic journey at Purdue University in Indianapolis, it's crucial to ensure you have the right credentials to access various systems and services. To streamline your experience and make sure you have all the necessary access, we've highlighted the different credentials you'll need below.
Purdue University ID (PUID)
Your PUID is a unique 10-digit number assigned to you upon admission to Purdue. It s essential for accessing several university systems and services including registration, financial aid and student records. You can find your PUID in your original offer of admission in your application portal. If you re unsure about your PUID or need assistance, self-help and support are available on the Purdue IT website . If additional assistance is needed, you can contact the Purdue IT Service Desk at (765) 494-4000 .
Purdue career account
Your career account serves as your primary login credential for accessing Purdue's online systems and services such as email, Brightspace, myPurdue and online library resources, as well as computer labs and printers supported by Purdue. For questions about your career account or password resets, self-help and support are available on the Purdue IT website . If additional assistance is needed, you can contact the Purdue IT Service Desk at (765) 494-4000 .
Duo two-factor authentication
Duo is Purdue's two-factor authentication system, providing an extra layer of security for accessing sensitive information and systems. You ll need your Purdue career account and password credentials to set up Duo on your mobile device. Make sure to enroll in Duo two-factor authentication to ensure secure access to university systems and to protect your personal information. Download Duo Mobile on the App Store or Google Play on the device you plan to bring to campus. Consider using BoilerBot , an automated, cloud-based application assisting Purdue faculty, staff and students in generating Duo bypass codes, resetting career account passwords and resetting Microsoft multi-factor authentication.
Indiana University (IU) username and passphrase
Because IU and Purdue share many resources at the Indianapolis location, Purdue students in Indianapolis will also need to create an IU username and passphrase, which will allow you to access the affiliate CrimsonCard (see below) and acquire things such as a parking pass. You'll also need this information to log in to computer labs and printers supported by IU. Duo is also IU s two-factor authentication system. Create your IU username, passphrase and additional IU Duo account on your mobile device by following instructions in the IU Knowledge Base .
- You'll need your 10-digit IU account number, which can be found on your Purdue New Student Task List in the IU Username and Password task. Note that this is different from your 10-digit PUID number. Please allow up to 24 hours for your account to be created before moving on to the CrimsonCard step below.
