Proctor Frequently Asked Questions?

Q. I already work for Purdue in another position, will I get an email from the business office?
A. No. You will not receive an email from the business office. 

Q. How long does it take to get hired?
A. Once you get the email from the business office, you must setup an appointment with them within 3 days to be hired.

Q. How do I know that I’m hired?
A. You will start getting the “Request for Proctor” emails.

Q. I answered the email about “Request for Proctor” with a “YES”.  How do I know if I got the assignment?
A. If you are assigned the exam, you will receive an email with CONFIRMATION in the subject line.

Q. When do I get paid?
A. You are paid according to Purdue’s Biweekly Pay Schedule.  You can find the schedule here: https://www.purdue.edu/hr/paytimepractices/paycontractdates/aycontractbi.php .

Q. How do I know what building to go for an assignment?
A. The CONFIRMATION email will have an abbreviated building code.
You can look up the building initials on: https://www.purdue.edu/campus-map/ .  UC=University Church

Q. Do I enter my time worked into SuccessFactors?
A. No. The instructor will let IDP know what proctors worked and when.  Time is then entered by IDP at the beginning of every week.

Q. My exam assignment is scheduled for 6:00pm.  What time should I be at the assignment?
A. Proctors may start working 15 minutes before the exam starts and may stay 15 minutes after the exam ends.  If you work more than the allowed 15 minutes before and after you will not be paid for the extra time.

Q. What should I do if I cannot make the assignment?
A. You must contact IDP and the instructor before the job starts.  The instructor email is listed on the confirmation email.

Q. What should I do if a student asks me a question during the exam?
A. Get the instructor or TA’s attention.  You are not to answer any exam questions.

Q. What should I do if I see students that look suspicious?
A. Get the instructor or TA’s attention.  Do NOT approach them.

Q. Who should I report to when I get to the assignment?
A. Check in with the person listed on confirmation email at the bottom “Report to:”.  Follow their instructions.
