Fall 2025 Faculty Reading Group to Discuss ‘The Present Professor’
The Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE) invites faculty to join Purdue’s faculty teaching and learning reading groups this semester. These reading groups bring together faculty from Indianapolis and West Lafayette in small groups to discuss how recent books about the classroom and teaching and learning may inform what they do.

Our book selection for the Fall semester is The Present Professor by Elizabeth Norell. The book is available for download through Purdue Libraries.
Participants will read the book over four sessions throughout Fall 2025 to discuss the ideas, theories, and application for this semester and in the future. Sessions will be held onsite in West Lafayette and virtually through Teams. Participants can choose their date and location according to their schedules for each week:
–Thursdays, 1-2 p.m., Sept. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 13, and Dec. 4 on the West Lafayette campus
–Fridays, 12 noon-1 p.m. Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 14, and Dec. 5 virtually through Teams
Faculty who would like to participate during Fall 2025 should fill out an online questionnaire by Fri., Sept. 12, providing information about themselves and their availability.
Those who cannot make it this semester but are interested in faculty reading and learning communities, or who have suggestions for future books/topics, should contact Annika Kraft at arkraft@purdue.edu.
