Test Scoring FAQ

Scantrons may be picked and returned for processing in STEW G-61.  You can expect them to be ready for pickup within 24 hours of dropping off.  There is no cost for the scantrons or the processing.

At the time of drop off you must have all answer keys and a “Request for Processing” form.  This form will detail how you would like your quiz or exam scored.  We can do either/or scoring, varied weights, omitted questions, partial credit and penalties.

Student sheets and answer keys must be filled out in pencil and students must completely bubble in their name and ten digit PUID. Note that while you can have more than one correct answer for a question, students may only pencil in one response.

Survey questions may be included on an exam by informing IDP staff when you drop off the exam. We can include them without detrimental impact to exam statistics.

The students' scantrons may be turned in physically sorted by key or intermixed if the “Test Form” identifier field has been utilized. We will match their sheet’s "Test Form" identifier against the answer keys provided for scoring.  The "Test Form" identifier is located in the bottom right corner on our large, one hundred and fifty question scantron. Contact IDP for the location of the identifier on other forms.

After scoring, you will receive an automated email when the reports have been shared on FileLocker.  The reports will give you a variety of statistics which may be used to measure student performance. Scores will be sent directly to Brightspace if requested and if more than eighty percent of students registered for the class are represented.  Scantrons may be picked up any time after that during normal working hours. Should a change be required, IDP can re-score the exam or add additional student sheets.

An exam may be rescored if a change that affects the entire class is required. We can also add additional student sheets to previous exams if needed.

IDP partners with Purdue Testing Services to allow seamless delivery of student exams.  A courier service provides convenient delivery to IDP from PTS at the instructor's request.  IDP matches the correct Request form on file and processes them on a daily basis.  New reports will be generated and shared per previoius instructrions. The PTS student exams will be securely stored should they arrive before the matching Request form.

You will receive a variety of reports that will provide individual and combined student performance data.  The Exam Analysis report will provide the mean, standard deviation, as well as how students responded to each alternative.  The Score Distribution Graph will show the frequency in percents. A Combined Score Distribution report is available upon request for those instructors with multiple sections.

A file called "Score Reports" provides a performance sheet for each student. It contains exam information, a score breakdown, and a list of missed questions with both the student's answer and the correct answer.

All reports will be shared with the person listed on the “Request for Processing” form.  Test scores cannot be emailed.
