America Saves Week 2020 is here; are you ready to start saving?
America Saves Week 2020 began Monday, February 24 and runs through Saturday, February 29. The week’s purpose is to unite a variety of diverse networks to encourage, support and inspire individuals and families to save effectively throughout America Saves Week and year-round. It’s a great time to check in on your financial wellness and make any needed adjustments.
Since 2007, the national campaign – co-sponsored by America Saves and the American Savings Education Council – has encouraged and helped individuals and families learn to save successfully, reduce debt, create better financial habits and more.
Each day of the week supports a unique theme and touts individual hashtags:
- Monday, February 24 – Save Automatically #SaveAutomatically #ASW2020
- Tuesday, February 25 – Save with a Plan #MySavingsPlan #SaveWithAPlan #ASW2020
- Wednesday, February 26 – Save for the Unexpected #Save4TheUnexpected #ASW2020
- Thursday, February 27 – Save to Retire #Save4Retirement #MySSA #ASW2020
- Friday, February 28 – Save by Reducing Debt #ReduceDebt2Save #ASW2020
- Saturday, February 29 – Save as a Family #SaveAsAFamily #ASW202
“Participating in America Saves Week is another opportunity for us to share resources and information and workshops in support of the financial wellness pillar of Purdue’s Healthy Boiler Program,” said Candace Shaffer, senior director of benefits in Human Resources. “It’s about providing access and support to the Purdue community as we champion financial security for them and their families, now and long-term.”
Take the Pledge
As part of ASW, individuals are encouraged to take the America Saves Pledge. Once you do, you’ll not only receive support, reminders and tips from America Saves; you’ll be entered to win up to $750 in the #ImSavingFor Sweepstakes! (See official rules for details.)
Workshops
Fidelity is offering Healthy Boiler workshops throughout the six-day campaign. Choose as many workshops to attend as you want; there is no fee for any workshop offering.
Mark your calendars and prepare to learn ways to help you and your family improve your ability to save and reduce the risk of financial worries down the road.
As a reminder, the Fidelity Investor Center – located in the Purdue Memorial Union on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus – offers free services to Purdue employees in regards to retirement, planning, savings and more. You can meet with a Fidelity representative in the Fidelity Investor Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To make an appointment, call 800-642-7131 or schedule online. Employees at the regional campuses also can schedule for their respective campuses via the same number and link.
