A junior in public relations from Hanover, Massachusetts, Jazna presented A Fresh Start in March 2015 to some of the best and brightest of the nonprofit sector—including President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton—at the Clinton Global Initiative University in Miami, Florida. College students from more than 40 countries presented their nonprofit business ideas.
Jazna collaborated with Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, and today A Fresh Start soap and towel drives are conducted on more than 70 university campuses across the nation. Donations from each drive stay within the local community.
Jazna and her team work with each new university to provide ideas, marketing and motivation to start a drive. “Most people would say the group that benefits the most are the residents of the shelters, Jazna said. “But I would say it’s the shelters themselves since we provide tens of thousands of dollars in donations. This is money they now have to spend on something much more valuable like food, clothing or heat.”
