ENTR Student Spotlight – Jacob Couture

Jacob Couture Student StoryMeet Jacob Couture, a senior majoring in Finance and Management in the Krannert School of Management and pursuing a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Jacob is from San Francisco, California, and says that he was drawn to Purdue because of its global recognition, core values, and Big 10 sports certainly didn’t hurt.

At Purdue, Jacob has been taking great leaps to foster his entrepreneurial spirit. He has participated in Purdue Startup Weekend and Purdue Business Pitch Nights. He interned as a Sales Consultant in Amsterdam and is now working on a student-lead project consulting team on a growth strategy for a marketing firm in Lafayette.

Jacob ‘s entrepreneurship education courses combined with his majors in Finance and Management have challenged him to hone his strategic and critical thinking skills when solving current business issues, analyzing changing global markets, and meeting the demands of these new markets.

“If you want to have the skills and experience needed to have a solid foundation in lean business agility, innovation, and one day lead your own business or team, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation program is for you.”

Jacob believes in the importance of working in a diverse team and gained great experience in this through his entrepreneurship education courses.

The diverse teamwork serves as a reminder that in the real, professional world, you will work on teams with individuals who may have very different skills or expertise than you. It takes practice to learn how to lead and work efficiently in these types of environments, which I now have thanks to the ENTR Certificate.”

Jacob Couture is a Boilermaker to watch. His forward thinking approach to market trends and business strategy might just land him on Wall Street.
