Melanie Dodd
Class of 1994
Melanie earned her B.S. in Pharmacy from Purdue University in 1994, and has maintained a strong connection to the profession through leadership, clinical practice, education, and service. Melanie currently serves as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Professor in Geriatrics at the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of New Mexico and completed a residency with Presbyterian Healthcare Services. A faculty member at the University of New Mexico for more than 26 years, she practices as a pharmacist clinician in geriatric primary care and serves as a consultant pharmacist for a variety of ambulatory care clinics. In her leadership role, she oversees clinical services, faculty practice initiatives, credentialing, contracting, billing, reimbursement, and pharmacy advocacy efforts across the health system.
Throughout her career, Melanie has been deeply committed to teaching, mentorship, and professional service. She is actively involved in didactic and clinical education, residency training, and research focused on geriatric care, advanced pharmacist practice models, and teaching scholarship. A recognized leader in the profession, she currently serves as President-Elect of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and previously served as Chair of the ASHP House of Delegates. Her career reflects a longstanding dedication to improving patient care while preparing future generations of pharmacists for success.
