Mary Jo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University in 1976. During her four years at Purdue, she was a majorette with the “All-American” Marching Band and performed on alto saxophone in various concert bands. Her involvement in Purdue Bands & Orchestras helped foster a lifelong connection to the organization and its mission.
Over a pharmacy career spanning 46 years, Mary Jo practiced in a variety of settings, including serving as a senior pharmacist at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. After relocating to Lafayette, she worked for several community pharmacies, including Arth Family Drugs, Arnett Clinic, and Target Pharmacy, where she served as a preceptor for Purdue PharmD candidates during their final year of study. She also worked as a consultant pharmacist in mental health care at Charter Hospital, chairing the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. She concluded her career at Purdue Pharmacy, where she spent seven years serving students and faculty and overseeing numerous campus immunization clinics.
Mary Jo has served on the Purdue Bands & Orchestras Advisory Board since 2017. Among the highlights of her service has been witnessing the planning, construction, and completion of Hagle Hall, providing Purdue Bands & Orchestras with a dedicated home and creating new opportunities for student learning, collaboration, and growth. Mary Jo and her husband are the parents of three adult children and enjoy attending Purdue convocations, athletic events, and Purdue Bands & Orchestras performances. They enjoy spending time outdoors, have traveled to all fifty states, and treasure opportunities to be with their three grandsons.
