Advisory Board Member

Joe Bean

Class of 2019

Joe earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 2019. During his four years with Purdue Bands & Orchestras, he was a member of the Big Ten Flags in the “All-American” Marching Band and performed with the concert percussion section. Joe also served in several student leadership roles, including “All-American” Marching Band section leader, Varsity Marching Band Twirlers executive team leader, and president of the Tau Beta Sigma chapter. His connection to Purdue Bands & Orchestras began as a fan, inspired by his older sister, Kaley (’17), whose involvement with the “All-American” Marching Band encouraged him to audition and become part of the organization.

Joe joined the Purdue Bands & Orchestras Advisory Board in 2025, having previously served as a student representative during his senior year. He credits his time in PBO as one of the most formative experiences of his college career, providing lifelong friendships and introducing him to his wife, Lizzie (’20). Professionally, Joe works for a defense contractor in Dayton, Ohio, where he provides engineering support to a U.S. Air Force customer specializing in electronic warfare test and evaluation. His career began with a summer internship made possible through a connection with a Purdue Bands & Orchestras alumna. Joe and Lizzie remain devoted Purdue supporters and enjoy returning to West Lafayette to cheer on the Boilermakers and support Purdue Bands & Orchestras. They also stay active in music through participation in a community band in the Dayton area.
