Enrollment Options

On-Campus

Students who opt to live on campus during Early Start will have the opportunity to get to know campus before 50,000 students arrive for the fall semester, participate in small classes alongside other Purdue students, and develop lasting friendships. Students will maximize their summer by completing 6-9 credit hours. The cost of tuition and fees for 6-9 credits is $2,498.00 for Indiana residents, $7,198.50 for domestic non-residents, and $7,853.50 for students with international residency.

The vast majority of participants will keep the same room in the residence halls from July 2024 - May 2025. Early Start students opting to live on campus during summer must complete two housing contracts - one for the 2024-2025 academic year (Fall/Spring) and one for Summer 2024 ("2024 Think Summer" housing contract). Housing is offered at a discounted rate for five weeks. This rate includes meals and Dining Dollars. Check out the summer housing website and scroll down to Early Start for more information.

University Residences can be reached at 765-494-1000 if you have any questions.

International students who are, or will be, inside the United States and wish to participate in Early Start at the West Lafayette campus must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours. No more than three credit hours delivered in an online or distance format may count toward the minimum enrollment requirement. Due to the timing of visa processing, international students must join Early Start by April 15th.

Commuter

Students from the West Lafayette area may commute to campus during Early Start. Students may enroll in up to 9 credit hours. Commuter students will be invited to participate in all activities occurring outside of the residence hall. We also encourage you to consider loading money on your student ID via Boiler Express so you can utilize campus dining facilities. The cost of tuition and fees for 6-9 credits is $2,498.00 for Indiana residents, $7,198.50 for domestic non-residents, and $7,853.50 for students with international residency. Commuting students are expected to fully participate in a free orientation experience from July 6 - July 7.

Online

Students who can't make it to campus for Early Start may complete courses from home. The cost for 1-5 credit hours is $347.85/credit hour for Indiana residents, $948.30/credit hour for domestic non-residents of Indiana, and $1018.30/credit hour for international students. The cost of tuition and fees for 6-9 credit hours is $2,498.00 for Indiana residents, $7,198.50 for domestic non-residents, and $7,853.50 for students with international residency.

International students who opt to participate in Early Start from outside the United States, via the fully online format, may not enter the United States more than 30 days before the start of the fall 2024 semester.
