Expectations of the Advisor's Role

  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) (federally mandated crime reporter) for the University.  As such I shall immediately report any Clery Act crimes that I am made aware of, to the Purdue University Policy Department.   • Take the mandatory advisor training in SuccessFactors
    • How to find the advisor training: Log into SuccessFactors, change from “Home” to “Learning” (upper left-hand corner), under “Find Learning” there is a search box, search for “Student Organization Advisor Training”, click “Start Course”.
    • How to check for dates of completing the trainings: Log into Success Factors, change from “Home” to “Learning” (upper left-hand corner), click on “view all” under History (left hand side).
  • Meet with officer(s) on a regular basis. 
  • Have a working understanding of the organization’s constitution.
  • Maintain contact with a designated officer at least once per month.
  • Abide by and explain Purdue University policies, as well as local, state, federal laws.
  • Report any concerning behavior, incidents, or injuries regarding the student organization and their activities to Student Activities and Organizations and online via incident reporting https://www.purdue.edu/odos/.
  • Review and understand expectations of and policies for student organizations. The handbook may be accessed here
  • Be a full-time faculty or management, or professional at Purdue University.
