IBC Meeting Minutes
Effective June 1, 2025, the NIH is updating and reinforcing its transparency expectations for IBCs under the NIH Guidelines. The changes aim to strengthen biosafety transparency and public trust in the biomedical research. They include:
- Rosters will list each member by name and role, and include contact information for the IBC Chair, Biological Safety Officer, and general IBC contact.
- Institutions are expected to post approved minutes from IBC meetings that occur on or after June 1, 2025, on a publicly accessible website.
- Minutes should be posted immediately after approval, with appropriate and allowable redactions.
- Minutes from meetings before June 1, 2025 do not need to be posted but must still be provided upon request. Institutions may voluntarily post these earlier minutes for added transparency.
Minutes of meetings that occur on or after June 1, 2025 will be posted here immediately after approval.
