Specialty Ensembles

Auditioned and carefully selected from the already-existing rosters of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, Purduettes, Purdue Bells, Heart & Soul, and University Choir, the members of PMO specialty ensembles dedicate additional time and energy to provide a variety of musical styles for even the most intimate of events and performance venues. Featuring soloists, trios, quartets, quintets and unique small groups, these talented students afford audiences the same outstanding quality of diverse entertainment on a smaller scale.

Purdue Varsity Glee Club Specialties

Ba Na Na

Enjoy everything from Elvis to Jerry Lee and Bobby Darin to the Drifters as this fantastic foursome takes you back to the fabulous ’50s and sensational ’60s with their entertaining vocals and nostalgic look. 

Flashbacks 

Jump onto the dance floor as you listen to this group present an eclectic mix of music from all eras with tight harmonies that will have audience members singing along.

Off Broadway

This talented troupe incorporates small and large group Broadway ensemble tunes and solo works.

Roots

Roots sing contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots musical styles including country, folk, bluegrass, and blues.

Top of the Class

The newest specialty ensemble sings barbershop classics and vocal jazz standards with influences like “The Four Freshman."


Purduette Specialties

Lonely Hearts

This dynamic, energetic group sings a wide variety of music, from girl groups of the 1960s to movie tunes to contemporary pop, jazz and Latin hits. While performing the songs of Etta James to Sara Bareilles to Imelda May, the Lonely Hearts maintain a style, groove and sense of moxie that audiences love.

Purduette Trio

Relive the nostalgic song stylings of the Andrews and McGuire sisters, and the big band and swing sounds of the ’40s and ’50s with this trio of talented vocalists that are sure to keep memories alive and toes tapping.

Remedy

With their angelic voices and folksy charm, The Remedy sings an appealing variety of sacred and secular Americana music to heal souls in a wounded world.


Purdue Bells Specialties

Four-in-Hand Quartet

Well-versed in specialized techniques to ring four bells individually and simultaneously in each hand, members of this quartet perform a variety of music that is sure to please.

Off-the-Table (OTT)

Off-the-Table (OTT) re-imagines, reduces and refines music written for a full 5 octave choir of 13, to an amazing performance for an ensemble of 4. Mesmerizing to watch as they utilize a number of specialty techniques to accomplish this feat, OTT will amaze audiences of all ages with their skill and musicianship.

Shaker Chimes

Utilizing a set of antique shaker chimes, this talented group of students showcases this rare and unique instrument through a variety of musical styles. You must see it to believe it!

University Choir Specialty

Chamber Choir

Performing an array of classical and spiritual music, this well-balanced group specializes in challenging acapella arrangements with tight harmonies. Directed by Joseph Bandi, Chamber Choir is the largest specialty group within PMO.
