| Dear Boilermaker,
It is time to register for your Purdue welcome orientation program — called Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) and Boiler Gold Rush International (BGRi) . Purdue Welcome is the fourth step of your All Aboard Purdue orientation experience. Although Boiler Gold Rush is not required, more than 80% of incoming students participate in BGR each year (over 8,000 new students participated last year).
What are the program dates? BGR will take place Tues day, Aug. 19 , through Satur day, Aug. 23.
- BGRi is a supplementary component for international students that will take place from Saturday, Aug. 16 through Monday, Aug. 18 before the rest of BGR begins.
- Please note that if you plan to participate in the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band, Purdue Musical Organizations, or Purdue Athletics, you will have a separate Purdue Welcome program during the week of BGR led by your organization.
When can I move in? If you are living in University Residences and have questions about their move-in process, please visit the University Residences website . If you are living off-campus, please connect with your property manager so you can settle in prior to BGR and/or BGRi beginning. For those who are living in University Residences and have registered for BGR/BGRi, there is the opportunity to move in early!
- Move-in for BGRi participants in Indianapolis will take place on Friday, Aug. 15.
- Move-in for BGR participants in Indianapolis will take place on Monday, Aug. 18 during their pre-assigned time.
Is there a cost to participate?
To participate in BGR, there is a program fee of $375 that covers all meals and activities. There are no additional housing fees for students with a University Residences contract since BGR is considered an early arrival program. Our office offers full or partial fee waivers to students with financial need. Waiver decisions are made on a rolling basis all summer, and the application is located in your myPurdue portal . How do I register to participate? You can register for these programs from your New Student Task List, which resides in your myPurdue student portal . Jul. 31 is the deadline to register for BGR/BGRi. You can find program dates and deadlines on our website. If you need help logging in to any Purdue system, or general Purdue IT help, please review Purdue's IT web page for new students , or call Purdue IT at (765) 494-4000 .
Why should I register?
By participating in BGR/BGRi, you will:
- Be placed into a small group with other new students. For example, transfer students will meet other new transfer students, while summer students will continue to connect with other summer students.
- Attend sessions specifically designed to help you transition to campus.
- Have ample opportunities to build connections with a community of Purdue University students, staff, and faculty.
- Be led by a current student Team Leader who has firsthand, on-campus experience.
