| Dear Boilermaker,
Registration is officially open for your Purdue welcome week orientation program – Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) and/or Boiler Gold Rush International (BGRi). Although not required, more than 80% of incoming first-year and transfer students take part in BGR each year (over 500 new students participated last year in Indianapolis).
What are the program dates? BGR will take place Tuesday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 22!
- BGRi is a supplementary component for international students Saturday, Aug. 15 through Monday, Aug. 17 before the rest of BGR begins.
- Please note that if you plan to participate in the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band, Purdue Musical Organizations or Purdue Athletics, you will have a separate Purdue Welcome program during the week of BGR.
When can I move in? If you're living in University Residences and have questions about their move-in process, please visit the University Residences website. If you're living off-campus, please connect with your property manager so you can settle in prior to BGR and/or BGRi. For those living in University Residences and participating in a welcome program, you have the opportunity to move in early! Move-in for BGRi participants will take place on Friday, Aug. 14. Move-in for BGR participants will take place on Monday, Aug. 17 at a pre-assigned time.
Is there a cost to participate?
The program fee is $440, which covers all meals and activities. For students with a University Residences contract, there are no additional housing fees. Full or partial fee waivers are available to students with financial need. Waiver decisions are made on a rolling basis all summer. Apply through your myPurdue portal. How do I register to participate? Register for these programs in your New Student Task List, which can be found in your myPurdue portal. The deadline to register for BGR/BGRi and to apply for a fee waiver is July 31. Review all orientation program dates and deadlines on our website. If you need help logging in to any Purdue system, or general Purdue IT help, please review Purdue IT's New to Purdue page, or call Purdue IT at (765) 494-4000.
Why should I register?
By participating in BGR/BGRi, you will:
- Be placed into a small group with other students similar to you, whether you are a transfer, fall or summer beginner.
- Attend sessions specifically designed to help you transition to campus.
- Have ample opportunities to build connections with a community of students, staff and faculty.
- Be led by a current student Team Leader who has firsthand, on-campus experience.
