Boiler Cold Rush 2026 in West Lafayette:

Boiler Cold Rush 2026 successfully welcomed 115 new Boilermakers to Purdue this January, marking our sixth Boiler Cold Rush with one of the highest percentages of participation for spring beginners to date. With the support of 19 dedicated Orientation Leaders, students began their Purdue journeys in West Lafayette through a weekend focused on connection, resources, and Purdue pride.

This year’s program was especially meaningful as all 10 Student Orientation Committee members from both locations were able to come together to lead Boiler Cold Rush collaboratively in West Lafayette. Their leadership played a key role in creating a seamless and engaging experience for our students.

Participants engaged in several new and exciting program elements, including our BCR Bingo card, which encouraged students to connect with one another and make new friends over the two-day program. Students had the opportunity to participate in several Purdue traditions including the Sandstorm dance featured at many Purdue sporting events, and the Traditions Tour, which included a photo with the Xtra Special and Crossing the Tracks. Boiler Cold Rush 2026 also featured our first-ever BCR Resource Fair, bringing campus partners and student organizations together to share valuable resources and opportunities. The program concluded with our inaugural BCR Bash, where students celebrated the end of their experience through yard and board games that fostered community and fun.

None of these successes would have been possible without the dedication of our student leaders and the support of departmental, campus, and community partners. Thank you to everyone who helped make Boiler Cold Rush 2026 a welcoming and memorable start for our newest Boilermakers.
Spring Beginner Welcome in Indianapolis:

This January, we also welcomed 3 new beginners in Indianapolis at our Spring Beginner Welcome for 2026. These new beginners had either started online in the Fall 2025 semester or deferred their start until Spring 2026. While Purdue University is not formally admitting spring beginners in Indianapolis, we had the chance to connect with these new students, teach them about Purdue University, introduce them to important resources and upcoming events, provide dinner, and tour campus together. Many of our Student Orientation Committee members and Team Supervisors in Indianapolis connected with our new students to ignite community building and share student-first insights about campus. While the group was small, the evening was really enjoyable and there was plenty of mingling and great questions asked!
2026 Team Supervisors:
The Orientation Team was hard at work this past fall hiring our 2026 Team Supervisors. This year, we hired a total of 172 Team Supervisors between West Lafayette and Indianapolis. These student leaders are continuing their training this Spring semester and are taking our GS 210: Leadership Development Seminar.

These Supers will also help us hire our next class of Team Leaders this Spring. Team Leader applications opened on January 20 and will close on February 15 at 11:59pm. To learn more about the TL role, please visit

Purdue Day of Giving 2026:
Save the date for Purdue Day of Giving: April 29, 2026!

Purdue Day of Giving is Purdue’s 24-hour online-based fundraising effort that seeks to raise funds to support individual units on campus and the University as a whole. Units like Orientation Programs rely on your generous donations to help fund various components of our program. For example, you can help support our initiatives like BGR/i fee waivers to help new Boilermakers attend our programs free of charge, our program gift account which supports student staff and select BGR/i events, or our Kasi Jones Memorial Scholarship which supports our student leaders who display positivity and the spirit of the program while overcoming adversity.

Like 2025, Orientation Programs intends to host a Pie-an-SOC event this year on April 29. Stay tuned for more information on how you can best support Orientation Programs with your donations, which members of our team will also be involved in the Pie event, and how you can virtually donate to receive a video of someone being pied on your behalf!
