Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Melissa Burdi, Purdue Global vice president and dean of the School of Nursing, has been nominated for a 2022 Osmosis Raise the Line Faculty Award by health care education platform Osmosis by Elsevier. Developed to recognize the inspirational educators who are responsible for training the next generation of health care professionals, the Raise the Line Faculty Awards celebrate faculty who are constantly helping to “raise the line” with exceptional teaching standards and academic rigor that encourages learners to develop into competent, compassionate and ethical clinicians. Winners will be announced later this month.

Burdi began her career at Purdue Global in 2018 as the associate dean of online nursing programs before being elevated to her current position in 2020. She leads the strategic efforts of the School of Nursing with a strong commitment to innovation, growth and quality.

- Letian Dou, the Charles Davidson Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, has been selected for the 2022 Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) Rising Star in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology award. The institute, located at the University of Waterloo, has recognized emerging leaders from around the globe whose research aligns with the institute’s thematic areas and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals since 2018.

- Ashley Miller, principal, marketing insights and analytics in Purdue Marketing and Communications, was awarded for her session on “Messaging to Students and Parents for Maximum Impact” at the 2022 AACRAO Strategic Enrollment Management Conference in Toronto. Five exceptional sessions were awarded The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center SEM Research Track honor during the conference.

Babak Anasori, assistant professor of mechanical and energy engineering, was named a Rising Star in Science by Research.com. He was ranked No. 32 in the world rankings, and No. 7 in the U.S. rankings.
