Appointments, honors and activities

  • Faculty and staff honors:

- Guofang Huang, an assistant professor in the Krannert School of Management’s marketing area, was recently honored by SERVISIG with its award for the Best Service Article in 2021. The paper, “The Causal Effect of Service Satisfaction on Customer Loyalty,” was co-authored by K. Sudhir from the Yale School of Management.

- Makarand Hastak, professor and head of the Division of Construction Engineering and Management and professor of civil engineering, has been elected as the 26th president of the CIB (International Council for Building).

- Last month, YWCA Greater Lafayette celebrated its 2022 Salute to Women honorees. Among the 11 recipients are:

  • Adelia Sorge, former academic advisor in the Krannert School of Management. Since retiring, Sorge has helped individuals navigate the immigration system as a U.S. Department of Justice accredited representative within the Lafayette Urban Ministry Immigration Clinic.
  • Katy Bunder, former Krannert School of Management employee. Bunder founded New Chauncey Housing Incorporated and serves as the chief executive officer and president of Food Finders Food Bank.
  • Dr. Natalia Rodriguez, assistant professor in the departments of Public Health and Biomedical Engineering. Rodriguez is a member of LTHC Homeless Services’ board of directors and the Indiana Community Health Worker Association.
  • Carina Olaru, director of the Latino Cultural Center, director of student advocacy and education in the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. Olaru was named 2019 Educator of the Year by the Indiana Latino Expo and is involved in many initiatives with the Indiana Latino Institute.
  • Barb Tyner, former assistant vice president for Human Resources at Purdue Research Foundation. Tyner is also a graduate of Leadership Lafayette and a past president of the Tippecanoe Area Human Resources Association.

The Salute to Women has annually recognized the achievements and contributions of women in the area for 48 years. Recipients were honored at a celebration held on June 21 at the Stables Event Center. More information about the event can be found online.
