Appointments, honors and activities

  • Faculty and staff honors:

-Mark Schuver, director of Purdue Polytechnic Institute’s Purdue Online programs, has received the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) 2020 Joseph M. Biedenbach Distinguished Service Award. Nearly 200 colleges and universities compete for this award, and Purdue has won two years in a row. Schuver’s nomination was uniquely cross-institutional by three nominators: Mitchell Springer, Purdue University; Mary Bonhomme, Florida Institute of Technology, and Linda Krute, North Carolina University. The award was presented by the Continuing Professional Development Division board of directors of the American Society for Engineering Education. 

 

  • Notables:

-  R. Douglas Hurt, a professor of history, has published “The Green Revolution in the Global South: Science, Politics, and Unintended Consequences.” Hurt examines the agricultural history of the Green Revolution and its push to increase agricultural production, documenting its impact on environments, economies, and human life.


  • Student honors:

- Jeff Sherwood, a Master’s of Fine Arts candidate in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art and Performance’s sound design program, received the 2020 USITT Robert E. Cohen Sound Achievement Award. Winners of this award have completed work that creatively applied sound in the performing arts and executed their vision with respect to artistic and technical choices, process, and product. USITT is the Association for Performing Arts & Entertainment Professionals.


  • Rankings:

- In the newest Ivy Exec rankings, Krannert School of Management’s Executive Master of Business Administration program jumped 23 places from No. 50 to No. 27 in the world. It remained No. 6 in the Midwest. More information is online.
