Purdue workshop to build marketing foundations for agribusinesses

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University’s Center for Food and Agricultural Business will present the 2019 Agribusiness Marketing Level 1: Building the Foundations of Agri-Marketing seminar July 23–25 on the West Lafayette campus.

Participants will learn to think like a marketer and bridge the gap between sales and marketing. From faculty-led presentations to case studies, attendees will gain tools to communicate more effectively with customers, maximize their organization’s marketing strategies and work more closely with key customer segments.

“Whether you’re new in your role or a seasoned veteran seeing a closer integration happening between sales and marketing, it’s critical to be able to create alignment to effectively implement your marketing strategy,” said Scott Downey, associate director and associate professor of agricultural economics. “This program is designed to provide tools that will help sales and marketing work together to establish and maintain a reputable brand and communicate your organization’s positioning both internally and externally.”

In addition to Downey, Justin Funk, managing partner of Agri Studies, Inc., will present at the workshop. Program topics will include buyer behavior, evaluating market opportunities, product management and pricing, distribution and promotion. Participants will develop effective product and service strategies by focusing on product life cycle management, understand how marketing activities affect profits and discuss market communication tools such as adverting, sales promotion and personal selling.

This program benefits professionals responsible for managing and implementing sales and marketing activates at the local or regional level. Previous attendees have held roles such as product/brand manager, territory sales manager, regional account manager, retail location manager and marketing coordinator.

The cost to attend is $2,395. Learn more about the program and register at
