WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.  – Implemented last week, an additional CityBus route is now offered on the West Lafayette campus as part of a pilot program that will extend through late April.

North-south service from the Discovery Parking Lot at Martin Jischke Drive and Nimitz Drive to Ross-Ade Stadium is available via the new 16 University Street Loop. Stops on this route include Purdue Village, Discovery Parking Lot, Discovery Park (near the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship along Martin Jischke Drive), Beering Hall of Liberal Arts and Education, Robert E. Heine Pharmacy Building, Ross-Ade Stadium and others.

“This route may offer a convenient option for those traveling to and from Discovery Park for meetings, research and classes,” said Ben Dispennett, director of Purdue Parking and Transportation Services. “In addition, commuters who park in either the Discovery Parking Lot or at Ross-Ade Stadium might find this route aids in their travels to and from central campus.”

The loop operates every 10 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is currently the only bus route that travels along North University Street. A map of the route and its schedule is available online.

Dispennett says his department works closely with CityBus on ways to optimize campus bus routes to best align with current campus needs. Over the course of five-week pilot program, the route’s long-term feasibility will be measured by assessing ridership levels and traffic impacts. Those who use this route in the coming weeks are encouraged to provide feedback to parking@purdue.edu.
