Get cooking with Purdue’s BBQ Boot Camp

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Backyard grill masters are invited to hone their meat preparation skills at Purdue University’s BBQ Boot Camp.

The program will be held April 22, 3-6 p.m., at the Beck Agricultural Center, 4550 U.S. 52 W.

Participants will rotate through five hands-on learning stations, culminating with a buffet-style dinner featuring entrees, sides, bread, dessert and drinks.

“We focus on things like cut selection, rubs and marinates, what kind of cooking method should we use and also degree of doneness,” said Stacy Zuelly, professor of animal sciences and one of the event organizers. “A new one we’re adding is called Burger 101, to help everyone figure out how they can make just a little better burger.”

Cost is $25 for one person and $20 for each additional guest.
