Nutrient management workshop set for Allen County

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Extension will offer a second “4R 4 Producers” workshop, this one in Allen County.

"4R 4 Producers" will be 12-3 p.m. on March 9 at the Allen County Extension Office, 4001 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne.

4R stands for right source, right rate, right time and right place. The program promotes management practices that achieve cropping system goals while minimizing field nutrient loss and maximizing crop uptake.

The program will cover case studies, development of mock nutrient management plans and Purdue University fertility recommendations. Guest speaker Ben Wicker of Indiana Pork will give a presentation about developing nutrient management plans based on soil analysis and field history.

To register, call the Allen County Purdue Extension office at 260-481-6826 or email Rhonda Smith at smit2177@purdue.edu by March 8. There is no registration fee.

Another "4R 4 Producers" workshop will be 5-8 p.m. on March 9 at The Andersons, 4743 County Road 28, in Waterloo.
