Board approves winter recess for 2016-17

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - At the recommendation of President Mitch Daniels, the Board of Trustees on Friday (Feb. 26) approved for 2016 the addition of a three-day winter recess on Dec. 27-29 for faculty and staff on all Purdue campuses. The three days are in addition to approved University holidays already scheduled on Dec. 23, 26, 30 and Jan. 2.

“We’ve heard from many of our staff that providing our campus community with an extended break during this time of year is a wonderfully welcome benefit,” Daniels said.

Purdue first offered the extended three-day recess during December 2015 after adding two half-day leaves during December 2014. For the coming year, the University will be officially closed Dec. 23, 2016, through Jan. 2, 2017.
