Purdue Foundry unveils second Double Down cohort of high-growth businesses

Program changes made to address COVID-19, other challenges

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue Foundry has unveiled its second cohort for the Double Down Experiment (DDX), which includes six businesses ready to reach the next level with innovative technologies.

The six businesses were selected from the Purdue Foundry’s ecosystem. The Purdue Foundry has been involved with creating more than 250 companies. The Double Down companies range in focus from finance to food safety to health care.

The Purdue Foundry is an entrepreneurship and commercialization hub housed in the Convergence Center for Innovation and Collaboration in Purdue’s Discovery Park District, adjacent to the Purdue campus. The $1 billion-plus Discovery Park District is a Purdue Research Foundation entity and is a transformational center of innovation.

“We have carefully selected a handful of companies we are ready to help move to the next level,” said Angela Goldenstein, director of growth for the Purdue Foundry.

The six companies selected for the spring cohort of the Double Down Experiment are:

* Adipo Therapeutics LLC – transforming the treatment of diabetes and obesity by converting bad fat to good fat.

* Brightlamp – unlocking the diagnostic power of the pupil.

* Karyosoft Inc. – Google for genomics data.

* Project Process LLC – process improvement in health care beginning with hand hygiene.

* Safe Food en Route LLC – your complete supplier food safety solution

* Zoro Inc. – build credit with a debit card.

“In response to COVID-19 and feedback from the first cohort, we're launching remote coaching for the program,” Goldenstein said. “This is a great opportunity for the entrepreneurs to engage, be vulnerable, and collectively tackle challenges they're all facing, which is more important now than ever.”

DDX complements the Firestarter and business planning programs offered to earlier stage companies at the Purdue Foundry.

“We have seen such great success from the first cohort,” said Bill Arnold, managing director of the Purdue Foundry. “We are now excited to mentor and provide resources to help this next group grow and achieve new levels of success.”
