Book of Great Teachers nominations due April 28

Nominations are being accepted through Friday, April 28, for Purdue University’s Book of Great Teachers, which honors outstanding teaching faculty who have demonstrated sustained excellence in the classroom.

The Book of Great Teachers, a permanent wall display in the west foyer of the Purdue Memorial Union, was first unveiled in 1999. The book bears the names of past and present faculty members who have devoted their lives to excellence in teaching and scholarship.

To be eligible for nomination, professors and former professors on the West Lafayette campus must have served on the Purdue faculty for at least 15 years, or have 10 years of service to the University and have been honored with the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, recognized as Indiana Professor of the Year, or named by the Purdue Board of Trustees as distinguished professors of teaching.

The nomination process for the book occurs every five years. The last ceremony was held in 2018 when 45 faculty members were added to the book. Details of the award are outlined on the Innovative Learning website. Nominations may be made using the Qualtrics form through April 28.

New initiates will be recognized Monday, Sept. 13, in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom.
