Scotty Secrist, Ph.D., serves as Director of Student Engagement within The Office of Student and Community Engagement at Purdue University. Scotty leads a portfolio focused on elevating student engagement, belonging and academic success. His work centers on scholarly identity development, academic proficiency, leadership preparation, and community engagement, ensuring students experience a clear, coherent path through the university.
A scholar-practitioner with a doctorate in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University, and an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Loyola University Chicago, Scotty builds initiatives that connect reflection, curiosity, academic communication and interdisciplinary learning with measurable outcomes. He is known for developing innovative programs that strengthen students’ sense of purpose and prepare them for competitive opportunities at and beyond Purdue.
Dr. Scotty’s leadership emphasizes clarity, collaboration and follow-through. His mission is to help students cultivate the mindsets, skills and experiences and communities that allow them to thrive personally, academically and professionally.
