Thiti Suttiyut, Manoj Ghaste, and Joshua Widhalm along with others from the Purdue Center for Plant Biology published a paper in Horticulture Research entitled “Integrative analysis of the shikonin metabolic network identifies new gene connections and reveals evolutionary insight into shikonin biosynthesis.  The paper is available online:  https://doi.org/10.1093/hr/uhab087.


The Langenhoven Lab is welcoming two visiting scholars, Lian Durón and Eduardo Miranda. They are both from Honduras. The facility in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture was opened to students this semester. It will be used by multiple courses in the department to provide hands-on production and research experience to students. Students in HORT 31900 (Controlled Environment Production of Horticultural Crops) are currently utilizing the facility to conduct research projects.


Ariana Torres and Ben Van Dyke are co-leading a Spring Break Study Abroad program to Southern Spain. They and 18 students will visit the largest greenhouse fruit and vegetable production (13,000 hectares) in El Ejido. Other production systems included in the program are: olive oil, manchego cheese, bullfighting breeding, horse breeding, citrus production.
