Postdoc Medical Benefits

For medical insurance, postdocs are considered staff. To view the available staff medical plans, please see https://www.purdue.edu/hr/Benefits/. J1 Visa holders should view the J1 visa plans available, which are different from the other staff medical plans.

Postdocs are eligible to use the Center for Healthy Living but they are NOT eligible to receive treatment at the Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH).

Office of Graduate Assistance (OGA)

The Office of Graduate Assistance (OGA) provides a safe and secure university environment for graduate students, faculty and staff to seek information, garner advice and request assistance for the effective resolution of conflict. Visit the OGA website for more information.

Report Questionable Mentoring Practices

Purdue has a new service for staff such as postdocs as well as students to use to report questionable mentoring practices (everything from potential abuse to uncomfortable situations). The service is ran through a third party site that keeps your information confidential from Purdue while informing the university leadership of the issues. Go to https://www.purdue.edu/hotline/ for more information or to report questionable mentoring practices.

Purdue Co-Rec

Postdocs have the option to purchase a membership to Purdue’s Recreation Services. Membership options include full, limited, and weekend only memberships. See Rec Membership Services for more information.

Graduate Parent Support Network (GPSn)

The GPSn is open to graduate students and postdocs with families. Check out the GPSn website for information on childcare grants and best practices for raising a family in West Lafayette.
