Jay Gephart Honored at Midwest Clinic
Jay Gephart leads the Purdue Wind Ensemble at the 2023 Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, Washington.
Professor Jay Gephart, the Al G. Wright Chair and Director of Bands at Purdue Bands & Orchestras, received the National Band Association Al & Gladys Wright Distinguished Legacy Award at the Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago. Jay received this award for his exceptional dedication to music education. Jay has been a faculty member at Purdue since 1995. Before that, he completed 12 years as a public school band director and has been an active member of numerous professional organizations.
I am so honored by this award from the National Band Association, an organization founded by our very own Al G. Wright. I have had the opportunity to work with such amazing students during my 39 years of teaching. I hope my legacy is found in my passion for music and the act of sharing that passion with others.
