Peer Tutor
This role is only available for students in Indianapolis
Overview of the Role
Academic Success Peer Tutors will assist students in learning how to solve problems independently, exemplify the behavior of a successful Purdue University student, and significantly contribute to the academic success of the students they serve. Additionally, tutors will develop interpersonal and leadership skills through 1:1 and group tutoring interactions, ongoing professional development, and working on a dedicated student leader team.

Application Process
The application to become a Peer Tutor for the 2026-2027 academic year opens on February 1st and will close on Saturday, February 28th at 11:59 PM.
To apply for the Peer Tutor Position, you must submit an online application which will include:
- An updated resume
- Responses to the following short answer questions:
- Why do you want to work at the Academic Success Center?
- What excites you about the Peer Tutor position?
- What skills or experiences do you have that would make you a strong student leader at the ASC?
- Contact information for at least 2 professional references (previous employers, faculty, staff, etc.)
- References will receive a short survey to complete via email
Selection Timeline
- Submit your online application by 11:59 PM on Saturday, February 28
- If selected, participate in a Group Interview the week of March 8
- If selected, participant in an Individual Interview between March 23 and April 10
- Hiring notifications will be made by April 17, if not earlier.
Peer Tutor Responsibilities
- Provide individualized student support in assigned courses through scheduled tutoring sessions
- Plan and prepare for each tutoring session by reviewing content and creating practice exercises
- Create and facilitate large group Exam Review Sessions (course specific)
- Maintain personal understanding of course concepts and topics to best facilitate learning
- Direct students towards developing efficient time management and study skills
- Monitor student progress and provide accountability
- Engage in ongoing professional development including semester trainings, supervisor check-ins, and team meetings
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate, Purdue in Indianapolis student with a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Achieved a B+ or higher in the Purdue course (or course equivalent) they intend to tutor
- Preferred: ability to support multiple courses
Hours and Compensation
- Availability to tutor up to 10 hours per week + 1 administrative hour
- Hours that are unscheduled are not worked
- Wage of 13.25/Hour
