Performance management reminder: Be prepared for the 2020-21 staff evaluations

Supervisors are encouraged to collaborate with staff to update performance goals in SuccessFactors by Jan. 31. Each staff member will complete their performance self-assessment from March 1 to March 12, and supervisors will evaluate the performance of their direct reports from March 15 to April 2, as outlined in the 2020-21 performance management timeline.

Helping Hoosiers with college dream: Inaugural Fast Start students join Purdue in fall 2021

High school seniors William Herrell and identical twins Jenelle and Sydney Ward hail from rural Indiana communities, excited about starting the next chapter in their lives: college. Now, they have something else in common: The Wards and Herrell are the first Fast Start program students to gain admission into Purdue.

Researchers test sensors that could speed up construction schedules

How long it takes to construct a building depends in large part on when the concrete of each floor is strong enough to take on loads. Purdue engineers have developed sensors that could safely speed up a construction timeline by determining concrete strength directly onsite in real time. Purdue’s Engineering and Polytechnic Gateway Complex is a test bed for the new technology.

Purdue scientist will be among the first to study asteroid samples

A fireball lit up the Australian sky in the first week of December, as Japan’s Hayabusa2 asteroid explorer sent a capsule containing pieces of nearby asteroid Ryugu down to Earth. The capsule and its cargo were met with international cheers, including those of Michelle Thompson, a Purdue scientist who will be one of the first researchers in the world to study the samples.
