Dr. Martia Brawner King is a senior Student Affairs Professional whose work focuses on student engagement and student development. She believes that learning takes place outside the classroom and compliments what is learned inside the classroom. Martia has strived to ensure that each student has the best college experience possible and that every organization is able to live their mission. She stands firmly on John Dewey’s philosophy of Education through experiences will lead to learning and growth.

Advising over 950 student organizations at Purdue is no small feat. Dr. King is often excited by the opportunities to think creatively, solve challenging requests, and provide risk analysis that will aid in student engagement. She primarily advisors the Purdue Student Government and the Student Fee Advisory Board.

Dr. King is a scholar, a student advocate, an educator, a wife, and a mom of three. She finds joy in connecting with family, friends, students, alumni, and the community.

Provides support to student organizations and campus partners to ensure high level of performance and understanding of the event approval process. Assists students in leadership and skills development. Reviews activity planning forms and assists student organizations with event planning. Works with student organizations across campus to connect with their alumni, manage endowments, and educate students on the importance of stewardship. 

Manages the Boilerlink system, including administrative configuration and updates to forms, processes, and navigation. Provides support to student organizations and campus partners to ensure high level of performance and understanding of the event approval process. Assists students in leadership and skills development. Responsible for the allocation and management of student organization office, cubicle, and storage space on campus. Reviews activity planning forms and assists student organizations with event planning through virtual and in-person support.

Provides support to student organizations and campus partners to ensure effective operations and understanding of the event approval process. Assists with the formation of new registered student organizations, including establishing leadership roles, drafting constitutions, and facilitating promotion and outreach efforts. Supports leadership and skills development opportunities and reviews activity planning forms to guide student organizations through successful event planning in both virtual and in-person settings.

Provides support to student organizations and campus partners to ensure high level of performance and understanding of the event approval process. Reviews activity planning forms and assists student organizations with event planning. Manages the constitution review and name changes processes for current student organizations.
