History

  • 1950: The present Rush Memorial Hospital was opened. This limestone building included 52 beds and 16 bassinets.
  • 1971: The hospital completed an expansion project that consisted of an emergency department, modernized ancillary service areas, and a kitchen.
  • 1997: Another expansion added an updated emergency department, state-of-the-art imaging services, new surgical suites, and an updated rehabilitation therapy area.
  • 2006: A medical office building was added to house our growing family practice, expand our cancer care services, and centralize our visiting specialty physician clinics. The building also included a conference center to host educational and community events.
  • 2023: In response to the growing need for advanced inpatient care, Rush Memorial opened its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This state-of-the-art facility was designed to provide critical care services locally, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the county.

Over the past two decades, Rush Memorial has remained committed to innovation and excellence. The hospital has embraced new technologies, expanded specialty services, and strengthened its role as a trusted healthcare provider. Through every advancement, its mission is clear: to deliver compassionate, high-quality care close to home.
