Prabhakar is the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at Purdue University. His research lies in the area of data management and security, with a focus on developing novel database systems for managing probabilistic or uncertain data, and ensuring authenticity and integrity of outsourced databases. He joined Purdue in 1998 and served as head of Computer Science starting in 2010, and briefly as the inaugural director of the Integrative Data Science Initiative in 2019. Under his leadership, the expansion of the Computer Science department was elevated to be one of the Purdue Moves, resulting in an unprecedented and record-breaking expansion of student enrollments, faculty, staff, and departmental revenue, the creation of two new majors in AI and Data Science, and a new professional masters degree in Cybersecurity.
