Welcome to the Office of the Provost

The executive vice president for academic affairs and provost is Purdue University’s chief academic officer. Reporting directly to the president, the provost is responsible for all academic programs; academic strategy and priorities; faculty-related matters including academic appointments, tenure and promotion; and student academic affairs. The provost works closely with the deans of all colleges and schools to catalyze collaboration between academic units and help identify and cultivate new areas of scholarship. The provost also has direct responsibility for all academic support units including enrollment management, admissions, registrar and financial aid, as well as libraries and cultural centers. All academic deans and many of the University’s senior positions report to the provost, including those responsible for various student success programs. The provost collaborates with the chief financial officer and has responsibility for the allocation of financial resources in accordance with academic priorities. The provost also communicates on academic and faculty matters with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies, including the Board of Trustees.
