Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives

Cherise Hall is the vice  provost for strategic initiatives. This position supports the provost, vice provosts and other academic executives offices. Her responsibilities include the following:

  • Works directly with the Deans, Vice Presidents and their chief financial officers in addressing issues related to finance, funding needs, Provost programs and allocation decisions;
  • Actively manages the financial resources and reserves of the Provost including the individual funding plans for all provost-sponsored initiatives; includes maintaining a system of ongoing review and analysis of resources to allow financing of planned and emerging opportunities.
  • Partners with the Provost, Vice Provosts and others in the development and launching of new Provost initiatives; provide the financial perspective for the design of innovative funding models that address costs, funding sources, revenue distribution and sustainable approaches.
  • Develops and implements assessment strategies for Provost-funded initiatives to determine effectiveness and impact on the programmatic goals;
  • Maintains a key relationship with the Office of the Treasurer that is keenly synced to the budget process and resource allocations.
  • Acts as a resource for faculty appointment and employment policies: historical perspective, interpretation and advisory.

Cherise is a graduate of Purdue’s Agricultural Economics Department, and has worked in Finances at Purdue for 20 years. She has held the position of USDA Account Manager, Business Manager and Assistant Director of the Agricultural Sponsored Program Services Office. Most recently, Cherise served as the Director of Financial Affairs for the College of Agriculture for nine years. In this role, she served as the Chief Financial Officer for the College’s diverse budget, and worked closely with the Dean on all business matters involving personnel, finances, policies, salary recommendations and grant issues. She served on the Dean’s Leadership Team and played a role in implementing strategic initiatives.
