Wei Yuan

Lab Manager and Director, Industrial Innovation Laboratory, Hitachi America Ltd.

Wei Yuan serves as Director of the Industrial Innovation Lab at Hitachi America Ltd. R&D and leads the Hitachi Global One Team for industrial solutions. In this role, he oversees the incubation and development of human-centric digital and automation technologies tailored for smart factory and warehouse environments. He drives digital service initiatives by collaborating closely with industrial customers, Hitachi Group companies, and front business units such as JR Automation, Hitachi Digital, and Hitachi Industrial Holdings America.   

With over 20 years of experience in research and development— including 15 years directly working in factory environments Alongside shopfloor and management teams—he focuses on practical solution implementation. He holds a Ph.D. in metallurgy and has authored over 40 scientific publications, including review papers and a book.
