Atsuyuki Asano

Atsuyuki Asano is a senior government official in Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). He serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency, an external body of MEXT dedicated to advancing public health, sports policy, and international athletic cooperation. Throughout his distinguished administrative career, Asano has held key leadership positions within the ministry, including Director of the Finance Division in the Minister’s Secretariat and Director of the Office for Professional Graduate School within the Higher Education Bureau.

His experience also spans international diplomacy, having served as an education attaché at the Embassy of Japan to foster cross-border academic and cultural exchanges. Across these roles, Asano plays a central part in driving policy, educational standards, and international engagement for Japan.
