Akira Kadomoto

Director of the Economic Diplomacy Strategy Division, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)

Akira Kadomoto is the director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’s newly created Economic Diplomacy Strategy Division, where he oversees the foreign policy aspects of Japan’s AI policy. He joined the ministry in 2004, serving in various posts including principal deputy director of the Japan-United States Security Treaty Division, counsellor at Japan’s mission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and principal deputy director of the Policy Coordination Division in the Foreign Policy Bureau.

He was a Bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Tokyo and a Master’s in international relations from Yale University.
