Appeal Process

Visitors

If you are issued a ticket as a visitor, you must either pay the fine imposed for the violation charged, or appeal the charge by completing the appeal form or writing a letter to the Parking Facilities Manager within 10 business days of the formal notice.

Staff

As a staff member, you may appeal a parking violation by completing a staff appeal form within 10 business days of the formal notice. No appeal will be accepted or heard by any appellate body unless filed within this time period.

An appeals officer will make a decision based on your written appeal and a decision will be sent via email. If the appeal is denied and you wish to further appeal, your appeal will be forwarded to the Staff Appeal Board. Once you are notified of the Staff Appeal Board ruling, you'll have 10 business days to arrange for a personal appearance before the board or pay the fine if the parking ticket was upheld.

To make arrangements to appear before the Staff Appeal Board, call the Parking Facilities Office at 494-9497. If this appeal is denied, the fine must be paid within 10 business days of the decision or a $10 late citation payment penalty will be added.

Students

As a student, you may appeal a parking violation by completing a student appeal form within 10 business days from the date of the formal notice. No appeal will be accepted or heard by any appellate body unless filed within this time period.

If you submit an appeal, an appeals officer will make a decision based on the written appeal and a decision will be sent via email. If the appeal is denied and you wish to further appeal, you will be given a date to appear before the Student Court. Failure to schedule the appeal within the time limit given will result in the traffic ticket being automatically upheld with no further appeal process. Failure to appear at the scheduled hearing will result in the traffic ticket being upheld with no further appeal process.

If the Student Court is not in session, the Parking Manager acts on its behalf. If an appeal is denied, the fine must be paid within 10 business days of the decision or a $10 late citation payment penalty will be added. Once a citation is late, a hold will be placed on your academic record.
