Purdue Parent & Family Connections invites you to join the Purdue Parent & Family Connections Portal.

This portal allows our Boilermaker Families to receive periodic news and updates according to personal preferences – weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or quarterly.   Families will be able to view Purdue news and information specific to their Boilermaker’s journey all based on available communities. Families with students starting in the fall of 2025 are encouraged to join the families of the new beginner students' community.

As we transition to the use of the Purdue Parent & Family Connections Portal, we will continue to send this newsletter until May. Starting in June, future Parent & Family Connections information, Family Weekends and announcements will be sent only through the portal. If you have questions or are unsure about creating a portal account, do not worry — we’ve created an informational video.

Parent & Family Connections will continue to provide information, resources, tools and services using the portal to communicate. We work together with families to empower family members as partners in student success.

Thank you for supporting your student's academic journey. If you need support or are looking for resources, families can contact Parent & Family Connections at

Project Move Out 2025

As the semester begins to wrap up, many residents have finals, summer plans, and move-out on their minds. Whether your student is moving across the world and needs to declutter or they no longer need something, please ask them to consider donating to Project Move Out. This initiative aims to divert usable items away from landfills and move them into the hands of various community organizations.

Here's what parents and families need to know:

What and Where to Donate: Each residential community at Purdue will have a designated donation site, typically located in the lobby. Students can drop off items like clothing, electronics, furniture, decorations, and more. Food items should be unopened and shelf-stable, such as canned goods, toiletries, and cleaning supplies can be dropped off at the front desk of each residential community. However, please note that donations of mattress pads, pillows, or hangers are not accepted.

For students residing in a UR Boiler Apartments property, donations should be made to the nearest residence hall community space.

Important Dates: Project Move Out operates from Monday, May 5th, to Saturday, May 10th.

Please encourage your student to contribute and remind them not to take items from the donation sites, as these are intended for community benefit.

If your student has any questions or needs assistance locating donation sites, they are encouraged to reach out to their Resident Assistant (RA) or contact the front desk for guidance. Your support in this initiative can help make it a success!

Purdue’s Academic Success Building in Indianapolis will enhance hands-on learning and innovation

For students like Aurelia Chelfannisa, the benefits of Purdue University’s new Academic Success Building (ASB) in Indianapolis will make a meaningful impact in more ways than one.

The first-year biomedical engineering student is already taking advantage of a research opportunity with her professor. And she is excited that the new space will create more student research opportunities — plus offer a home away from home where she and her classmates can not only work and learn, but live and support one another. Purdue Pete is always in demand — whether hyping up thousands of roaring fans at Mackey Arena or bringing energy to an early morning event for admitted students. For Cameron Wise, a senior studying financial counseling and planning, no two days as Purdue Pete are ever the same. With his iconic helmet and Purdue-branded sledgehammer in hand, Wise only has a few events left before graduating in May, but the memories will last a lifetime.

5 legendary Purdue women every Boilermaker should know

Most Purdue people know Amelia Earhart was a Boilermaker.

But what about the other trailblazing women whose influence changed Purdue for the better? Do alums know about the former dean of women for whom Schleman Hall is named? Do students know why the Veteran and Military Success Center is named for Dorothy Stratton or that Matthews Hall is dedicated to the first female academic dean on campus?

These are the stories that historian and author Angie Klink (BA communication ’81) especially loves to tell. Continue reading
